Start your watercolor journey by learning the basic rules, skills, and techniques that all painters use.
We are learning how artists use watercolor to create a composition by testing out different ways this paint acts and reacts.
Objective: We will explore basic skills and techniques used by watercolorists including, artist’s materials and tools, wet-in-wet/wet-in-dry wash, variegated wash, dry brush, scumbling, layering, color mixing, glazing, rendering, special effects, and finishes.
We will go through each technique in depth, step-by-step with checks for understanding throughout the guided paint-a-long and demonstration.
Once we have tried the basic forms of watercolor, we will create a painting using all of our newly learned skills!
Each learner will be provided with a handout of information and pictures of examples to guide our learning.
