Summer Camp Fun! Make Ice Cream In A Bag

Class Experience
Do you love ice cream? If so, this is the summer camp for you. We’ll learn all about the history of ice cream, how ice cream is made, and best of all, we’ll make our own ice cream…in a bag!

Format of the Class:
5 minutes: Welcome and Build Community

5 minutes: Share out about what we know about ice cream, how it’s made, and our favorite flavors and toppings

10 minutes: Slideshow/Video telling about the history of ice cream and how ice cream is made

25 mintues: Make our own ice cream in a bag (and eat it!)

15 minutes: Listen to the story “I Campaigned For Ice Cream: A Boy’s Quest For Ice Cream Trucks” by Suzanne Jacobs Lipshaw

Learners will need the following ingredients for their ice cream in a bag:
1 Cup Half and Half
2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
3 Cups of Ice
1/3 Cup of Salt
(2) Gallon Sized Ziplock Bags
Spoon
(Optional: toppings of the learner’s choice.)
