This course is for anyone interested in learning more about composing better images. Students will begin to learn about the basic rules of composition and how they can make simple snapshots look more artistic. Three simple rules will be explained during this course, the rule of thirds, watch your background, and negative space. Durning the class students will see several samples of these rules in action as well as before and after images.
Class will begin with students viewing two pictures while writing some things they notice about each one. The class will discuss which they like better and why. Students will have a chance to say what they are thinking, before we dive into what the 3 basic composition rules are and when and how to use them. Students will see and discuss before and after images using each rule taught. After the first class, everyone will be encouraged to apply the rules they have learned and upload an image of their own before the second class.
This class will be a mixture of lecture and discussion. Students will be expected to interact by expressing their opinions and asking questions. No prior knowledge is needed for this beginner class, and no special equipment.
