Designing Your Dream Home: Where would you like to live? Art Class for Elementary Students

on line
  • Ages:
    Gradeschooler

If you could design your dream home, what would it look like? This class is inspired by “The Big Orange Splot” by Daniel Pinkwater, a short charming children’s book about a man who transforms his home to fit his dreams. His home inspires his neighbors to create houses that fit their own personalities. We will read the book and encourage children to use art materials to design a house where, as the character says in the book, “My house is me and I am it, my house is where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams.” We’ll talk about what we care about, think about, what we like to do alone, what we like to do with others and then apply those things to design our own dream houses.

This class will be held on three consecutive Sundays April 11th, 18th, and 25th.

For over 10 years Children's Arts Guild has helped children master the art of growing up. Our programs use art to help children strengthen their social-emotional skills, develop self-regard, and feel empowered to take action in the world. Taught by master educators and experienced artists, these classes are interactive, hands-on, and most importantly a lot of fun. www.childrensartsguild.org
