In this one-time class, kids will listen to the kid-friendly story “Too Much Candy” originally written by Shreya Sharma but adapted and edited for this class by Teacher Denise. Immediately following the story, we will make several easy Halloween themed crafts with the teacher. The synopsis of the story is that a little boy brings home a big, pumpkin-shaped trick-or-treat bucket full of candy that keeps growing bigger and bigger the more candy he eats out of it until he becomes afraid of the giant jack-o-lantern full of candy. In the end, he wakes up to realize it was all a bad dream the morning after Halloween, and he vows to never eat too much candy again. Crafts made by the students during class will include (but are not limited to) paper jack-o-lanterns, tissue paper ghosts, fold-and-cut spider webs, paper plate face masks/costumes, spider/bat cut-out paper garland.
Note: There is no physical/published book for this story, therefore the teacher has created her own illustrated slide-show version of the story to read along with students during class using the screen-share classroom function.
