Let’s learn Spanish! In this 5-day course students will learn basic Spanish language elements. Each class will give learners a chance to interact and to practice their new skills with the teacher and classmates.
Day 1: Alphabet and Greetings
On this day we will focus on sounding out the alphabet and the correct sounds of letters. We will also practice how to say hello, good-bye, thank you, please, among other basic words.
Day 2: Numbers
On the second day, we will learn the numbers 1-20. Students will practice how to write these in standard (number) and word form. We will also play a fun game of “I Spy” to assess comprehension.
Day 3: Shapes
On this day we will learn the basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, star, heart, etc.). Students must bring their favorite toy to class and share with their classmates what shapes they can see on their toy using the new Spanish words learned.
Day 4: Colors
On the fourth day of class, students will learn the colors red, yellow, orange, blue, green, purple, pink, black, white, gray, and brown. Students will create beautiful drawings (at home, before class) using their favorite colors and will share it with their classmates using the Spanish words for the colors they used.
Day 5: Review
On the last day of this course, we will have a short and fun review for each of the topics studied during the week. Finally, students will participate in a scavenger hunt around their house. I will assign them a word from one of the topics discussed and they will have 60 seconds to bring into view something related to the word.
Students do not need previous knowledge of Spanish in order to participate in this course. For this reason, classes will be taught 30% in Spanish and 70% in English to make it less intimidating for students and to help them understand instructions clearly.
