In this first part of my multi-day private course, we will begin by learning correct terms (frets, chords, strumming, tuning, etc), identifying the different parts of our instruments, and tuning our instruments. Then we will move on to learning a few basic chords, building in difficulty and intensity as we progress our learning during the entire course. Students will be taught how to strum in different rhythms to match each song tempo (example: down, down, up, down, up…). They will also be playing simple songs from the very first lesson- building in skill level as they acquire more knowledge and chord change fluidity. It is my goal to make the learning process fun, and I encourage students to have fun playing their ukulele and singing during their weekly lessons. Music is supposed to be enjoyable, and learning is easier when students are having a blast. It is my hope that by creating this private lesson, the more hesitant, shy, or gradual learners will feel more at ease and get the specialized, undivided attention that they need. This course can be taken by siblings or close friends (commonly booked by 2 students together), or it can be taken by a single student.
Please be advised that I do NOT have any certifications or qualifications for teaching this class as a special education course for students with learning disabilities. Therefore I suggest that if your student has been diagnosed with a learning disability, that you look for and attain the services of a qualified music teacher in order to provide your student with the best educational opportunity. Thank you for understanding.
I look forward to singing and sharing some tunes with you soon!
**NOTE: Please ensure that the student comes to each class (except perhaps the first lesson) with their instrument tuned. It is imperative that the student has a freshly tuned instrument before practicing or attending a lesson in order to ensure maximum instructional effectiveness and new skill retention.**
