Are you traveling to a Spanish speaking country? Do you have some Spanish speaking friends that you want to talk to in their language? Do you just want to learn how to speak Spanish? Get a head start on Spanish speaking by learning how to say “Hello!”, “Good-bye!”, and how to talk about yourself. In this one-time lesson, students will learn how to say basic greetings and farewell phrases in Spanish and how to use the correctly. Students will also learn how to introduce and talk about themselves in Spanish. Students will learn how to ask for someone’s name and age. They will also create a short excerpt talking about themselves which will include information such as their name, where they are from, and age. Students will practice amongst themselves by asking their classmates the learned question/answer sentence patterns and listening to their responses. I am a very energetic and talkative teacher; I love to get students engaged and speaking. I will encourage conversation among students to help them practice their skills. This class is for Spanish beginners. It will be taught mostly in English to help students understand the prompts and instructions, but the sentence patterns and practice will be in Spanish. Students do not need to have any previous knowledge of Spanish, but will be expected to practice the sentence patterns and words learned in class. I will use repetition and practice to help them remember the new vocabulary and use correct pronunciation.
