I have been a special educator for 10 years in the Maryland and D.C. regions. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Music from Gettysburg College in 2012. I received my Master of Education degrees in Elementary and Special Education from Lesley University in 2014. I have the honor of working with students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. I have worked at public charter schools, traditional public schools, dual language immersion public schools (i.e. Spanish & English), and non-public special education day schools. I have been rated a Highly Effective teacher for 9 of my 10 years in the classroom. Currently, I am a certified Elementary Teacher (Grades 1-6) and Noncategorical Special Education Teacher (PK-12) in the District of Columbia. I was a certified Elementary Teacher (Grades 1-6) and Noncategorical Special Education Teacher (PK-12) in Maryland. Currently, I am a special education teacher at a National Blue Ribbon dual language 50/50 Spanish/English public school in Washington D.C. I work with upper elementary school students with various disabilities.

My teaching philosophy is focused on empowerment. I believe that empowered children make responsible decisions, develop empathy for others, and are driven to reach their individual goals. Teaching is a mission for me. I'm on a mission to awaken the inner champion in every child regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. My pedagogy focuses on using research-based and evidence-based practices through culturally responsive teaching and inclusion.

I love singing all styles of music. I love opera, jazz, gospel, R&B, blues, pop, and more. However, my favorite song is the one-and-only "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
