Creature Art Camp: Paper Mache Mythical Creatures From Start to Finish

In this 4-Day class, we will learn how to construct a creature from our own imagination, using Paper Mache techniques.

Objective: We will learn the basic techniques to constructing form using three-dimensional media.  Learners will learn basic construction to build form and stability, learn how to make and apply Paper Mache, and be able to paint details and add effects and textures to their final creature.

Format: This four day class is designed to provide learners with the skills and techniques for working three-dimensionally from home.

Day 1: Sketching and planning the creature, making a list, and collecting items to start armature.
Day 2: Continuing the armature and starting to build on the form, learning how to make the Paper Mache paste and start application.
Day 3: Continuing to add to form, and applying Paper Mache, allow to fully dry once form is complete, and possibly start painting.
Day 4: Painting creatures and adding any textural touches, and sharing successes at the end of class!

Class Expectations:
Growth Mindset- At the beginning, it is okay if it does not look the way you want it. Keep in mind that the more you practice, the better you get! Just like learning an instrument or playing a sport, sometimes we need help getting things right. Artists understand that it is okay when we have suggestions and critiques because we rely on them to reach our goals to become better artists.
Kindness Counts- As we share our work, we are sharing a part of who we are. When we have opportunity to leave comments, we must use kindness and helping words. We’re all learning together and we want to build community and become better communicators as well as artists.
